Wildwood Park District awarded Lake County Tree Grant for Native Tree Plantings
The Wildwood Park District is proud to announce that we were one of eight organizations awarded a grant through the Lake County Tree Planting Program! This grant will allow us to plant native trees at the following locations to work to expand and diversify our county’s tree canopy and tree diversity within the Wildwood Park System:
Pebble Beach Park (7 total trees):
– 1 Serviceberry
– 1 Eastern Redbud
– 2 Kentucky Coffee Trees
– 2 Pagoda Dogwoods
– 1 Sycamore
Lake Shore Drive Park (3 total trees):
– 1 Sugar Maple
– 1 Sycamore
– 1 Northern Red Oak
Valley South Park (3 total trees):
– 1 Eastern Redbud
– 1 River Birch
– 1 Serviceberry
This innovative program commits to environmental stewardship. Every new tree planted adds shade, helps reduce heat, addresses stormwater runoff and much more in our community. We’re excited for these new trees to take root and help create a more sustainable Lake County! Thanks are in order for our partners at Lake County IL, Superior Enterprises, Inc., and a special thank you to Wildwood resident Ben Richards for sharing this opportunity with the District!
Further information will be shared soon about the upcoming tree planting!
