Notice of Gages Lake Invasive Weed Treatment – April 30th, 2025

*Update 4/30: on April 30th, TIGRIS completed whole lake invasive weed treatment of Gages Lake to manage the increasing presence of both Curly Leaf Pondweed and Eurasian Watermilfoil. Treatment was originally scheduled for April 10th, however, due to low water temperatures and other weather related factors that can cause the treatment to be ineffective, treatment was delayed. Because both species were growing in areas up to 10′ deep, causing native plant species to be reduced, and affecting navigational and recreational activities, it was imperative that the treatment be done per the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure the most effective weed control results. With treatment, there is a 90-day irrigation restriction for lakefront homes and/or those who use lake water to water their yards and gardens. This is a different approach to weed control than we have done in the past (more aggressive and comprehensive), using a long duration low dose herbicide application, which requires a longer irrigation restriction. We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation during this treatment so we can fulfill our mission of protecting our natural resources and lakes through conservation and preservation initiatives. Our goal in this is to improve and maintain the overall health of our beautiful Gages Lake.
Additionally, the Gages Lake Conservation Committee will spend most of its treasury on weed control. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so below:
