A Word from the Park District Manager – Summer 2023 Edition

As the weather warms and days get longer, the month of May reminds us that summertime is just around the corner. With boats taking to the lake and parks becoming livelier, we look forward to an exciting Summer ahead!

As a friendly reminder, Summer 2023 program and event registration began April 17th for Wildwood Residents! Non-resident registration begins April 24th. Registration can be done in-person, online, or through the mail.

Here at the Wildwood Park District, it wouldn’t be Summer without our Summer Camps and beachfront Swim Lessons! Come join the fun this summer at Camp Rules and Tot Camp where your camper will enjoy the serene beauty of Rule Park while playing traditional and new games with their peers, and making memories and friendships that will last a lifetime! Other core programs that we’re excited to bring back this summer include Intro to T-Ball, Tot Soccer, Neighborhood Play, Adult Bags League, and much more! Be on the lookout for new specialty program, including adult Zumba, Paddle Boarding, and a children’s Sandcastle Building Contest!

By popular demand, we’re excited to bring back our six-part Thursday evenings Summer Concert Series! Featuring new and returning artists, we hope that you’ll join us throughout the Wildwood Parks this summer to enjoy the sights and sounds on the lakefront!  Other familiar family favorites that will be returning are Movie in the Park, Family Campout, Blues Soiree, and more! In addition to our core programs and events, we are proud to host our third annual Harvest Fest event on Saturday, September 23rd. Bring the family down to enjoy activities and events, including local craft vendors, a petting zoo, live music and demonstrations, kid’s games, and a wide variety of food and drinks for all ages.

When you’re not attending one of our summer events or programs, be sure to check out what our eleven parks, four beaches, and two lakes have to offer!  Our Parks Maintenance Team has been hard at work modernizing, maintaining, and improving our parks system and amenities! Over the past year, several exciting park improvements have been made, including a new swing set, walking path, and drainage improvements at Pebble Beach Park, new pier benches at the Pebble Beach boat ramp pier, restoration of the Sunset Park boat ramp platform, park picnic bench repainting and restoration, and indoor and outdoor LED lighting replacement at our facilities!

Looking ahead to the future, the Park District will continue to improve our parks and green spaces with planned projects this summer. These include power washing all playgrounds, replacing and repainting park sitting benches, repainting pavilions, installing newly designed and fresh parks informational signage, and fully restoring the parks to the level of satisfaction that all Wildwood residents deserve.  Further information on these past, present, and future projects can be found on our new Capital Projects and Planning page on the Wildwood Park District website.

I can’t wait to see all of you out and about this summer and would like to thank the community for their continued support of the Park District’s mission and vision!

Warmly,
