Park Appreciation Day

Join the Wildwood Park District team in improving/cleaning our parks! On this day, we will come together to make our parks cleaner and more enjoyable. We will begin at 9:00am, bring gloves and garden tools. At 12:00pm we will serve refreshments at Rule Park.

Movie in the Park

Come out to Rule Park and enjoy Encanto! The bounce house and concessions will open at 7:30pm and the movie will begin at 8:45pm. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Tropical Chill Hawaiian Shaved Ice food truck will be on-site and available for purchase. Please register by Monday, June 6. Bring blankets, chairs, and bug spray! In case of severe weather, the reschedule date is Friday, June 17th.

Gages Lake Conservation Committee 16th Annual Carp Fishing Derby

The Carp Fishing Derby is sponsored by Gages Lake Conservation Committee and Gagewood Lions Club in cooperation with Wildwood Park District. An Illinois Fishing License is required.

Registration will take place at the Willow Point Park Pavilion. Some fishing poles will be available for use or you may bring your own. Basic fishing instruction will be provided for beginners. All ages are welcome, but children must be supervised by an adult. Prizes will be awarded for each age group.

Blues Soi·rée at the Park

Come join us for some relaxing Live Blues Band Music from the Matt Meyers Band at Willow Point Park! It’s a free event with a Mardi Gras theme. Wear your favorite Mardi Gras attire, bring your chair or blanket, bug spray, money for The Daily Special food truck, anchor your boat and partake in a WWPD raffle!

Family Campout

Bring out the family for a night under the stars! Enjoy stargazing and games at our campout at Rule Park. Families will come, set up camp, play games, and spend the night. Dinner and snacks will be provided in the evening and breakfast the morning of the 23rd. Preregistration is required by Friday, July 15th. In case of severe weather, the reschedule date is July 29.

End of Summer Luau

Celebrate the ending days of summer at Sunset Beach Park. We will have tiki torches and other Luau decor at the park with live music from the Mr. Myers Band and a Billy Bricks Wood Fired Pizza food truck. Bring your chairs or blankets, bug spray, money for food truck, boats are welcome to anchor or dock at the park. We will have games available to partake; Scoop Toss, Frisbee, Volleyball, and Baggos.

National Night Out

Join the Wildwood Park District in a community-wide family event designed to prevent crime in the neighborhood. This is a national event where hundreds of communities take to the streets in an effort to promote safety and crime prevention. Residents will meet at 5:00pm at Rule Park for refreshments, live family music from “Leonardo Music”, and plenty of fun and games!

The Daily Food Special food truck will be available for purchase.

Paddle the Lake

Paddle the Lake is a day full of friendly competitions including a boat regatta, kayak race, paddle boat race, and a paddleboard race. To participate in the boat regatta and receive a rule sheet, please preregister by Friday, August 12th. Refreshments and treats will be provided during the day’s events.

GO WILDWOOD Kickoff Event

Drawing on collaborations with community members, government agencies, clubs, as well as businesses, schools and religious organizations, GO WILDWOOD seeks to create more awareness of the many programs and services that support local health and wellness initiatives.

The Wildwood Park District is excited to continue our GO Wildwood Program as a part of the countywide program, GO Lake County. The initiative is designed to highlight those programs that promote health and wellness. This event is our kickoff to Go Wildwood for Summer 2022. We will begin the kickoff event in Willow Point Park with entertainment from Stu the Piano Guy and healthy refreshments and the event will end with a mile long walk around the park. The first 20 participants will receive a free GO WILDWOOD t-shirt.

Walking Club

As a continuation of our GO WILDWOOD initiative, the Walking Club will meet once a month through our parks. This club gives participants the opportunity to get outside, get some exercise, and socialize with neighbors. Each walk is led by a Walking Club Champion. All ages are welcome and patrons can come and go as they please. Register for each walk at least one week prior to the date. In case of questionable weather, contact the office one hour prior to ensure the walk is still on.
