VALLEY LAKE COMMITTEE
Mission
To promote the conservation of Valley Lake so as to provide a healthy environment for wildlife, vegetation and recreational use by Wildwood community residents.
Method
This is a committee that serves the Wildwood Park District Board of Commissioners by providing research and recommendations on how to best improve and preserve the ecology of Valley Lake. Additionally, the committee participates in various Board-approved projects that enhance the beauty and health of Valley Lake. In all cases the committee operates under the Wildwood Park District Committee Operational Guidelines.
Maintenance
The Wildwood Park District is committed to maintaining the well-being of Valley Lake. Algae blooms occur naturally throughout the summer season, and are treated as they show up. Due to the unpredictability of these blooms the lake is monitored on a regular basis, and treatments may be administered to rebalance the minerals in the lake. Treatment of the algae blooms is harmless and swimming restrictions are not required in these cases.
